I know the title could be a little misleading but this about pricing and building a warhammer table from scratch so bare with me. We were at the Home Depot the other day to check out the thick pink insulation foam that I used to build my first table, which by the way Loews doesn't carry this kind of foam, and we went to collect the rest of the wood that we needed. Well when we went over the wood there is twice as expensive then the wood at Loews. So word of advice is to not get lumber from Home Depot at least not while trying to build a Warhammer table.
The key here is to get things as inexpensive as possible and I know that may sound cheap but think about it guys (and gals) this hobby is expensive enough without having to spend too much on supplies too. This also goes for paints and paint brushes or whatever supplies needed in order to make this a pleasurable hobby. I love the game itself but I especially enjoy making terrain and painting the miniatures too. Until next time...
Ok, so we went out for supplies last night for the new table and we decided that we were going to get ambitious and try to tweak the older tables too. Well now we have zero tables to play on because in the process of "tweaking" we accidentally snapped the green table in pieces. What we were trying to attempt to do was remove all wood from the frames of the older tables so they will be more manageable and they wouldn't need 2 or 3 people to pick up anymore not too mention my sand table had way too much wood on it. So we cleaned things up a bit and now I have to try to fix my green table with nail glue hopefully. So we have some supplies for the new table which the idea is to make a folding table and do kind of what GW started doing and making the terrain into several pieces so hopefully things will work out now that we have at least a plan in action. Although I feel we probably won't be playing again until mid January possibly later depending on how long it takes us to do construction on the new table and to fix up the old tables.
Until next time...
You may remember the Legion of the Damned from the old school rules. Well they were just cool looking marines if I am correct back then but now they are giving them special abilities. Here is the newsletter for those of you that don't get one:
Today at Games Day Italy we unveiled the all-new metal Legion of The Damned models. The Legion of The Damned are Spaces Marines in appearance. Their black armour is adorned with chilling images of bone and fire, and an eerie glow suffuses their sable armour and a halo of ghostly fire dances about their feet. Considered by some to be an extension of the Emperor’s superhuman will and by others as the vengeful and immortal spirits of fallen Space Marines, Damned Legionnaires fight with a chill precision few mortal warriors can match. Out in January, the Legion of The Damned are an Elite Space Marine unit who can always Deep Strike and can even opt to re-roll the deep strike scatter dice. Also, their 3+ saving throw is invulnerable.
Exciting or what Marines fans. Now here is a question that I want to know; are they going to be mercenaries and work for anyone like the Arbites used to be or will they just be another army all on their own. I guess we will find out more. Until next time...
Hello again. I personally can't wait until tomorrow so I can try to start work on my new table. Here is the basic answer I got from both of the forums, "as far as i know they do, its the mines of morai starter set, not the best set they do but you get the full fellowship, 24 moria goblins and a cave troll too plus the scenary and mini rule book". So my replies after careful consideration and confirmation from my fiancee that we are going to pass on collecting anything new right now. Although I would still really like to take a look at the rulebook and maybe watch a game at the local GW store. Wish me luck tomorrow (especially with limited funds).
Until next time...
Hello fellow gamers. I just have a quick question for those of you that play LOR. My fiancee and I are thinking about getting into the game but I could have sworn they sold a starter box set. When I went to go check the GW website I couldn't find it. Should I just buy the rulebook first to see if we are even going to like the rules? If anyone has any suggestions/advice please let me know. Thank you. In the meantime I am going to price things out. I also posted this on a few of the forums I belong to so lets see what the responses will be like. Don't get me wrong I really don't have the money to get into this right now but I am hoping to start at least by March.
Also I hope to be working on my new table this weekend. Should be fun stuff. Until next time...
I found this one You tube but I couldn't find any trailers on the Ultramarines movie. It looks like this Inquisitor thing had four parts for those of you interested. I have to warn everyone though, it's live action not CGI or animated. I am not quite sure when it was made either. It's amazing what kind of hit you can get on Youtube for the words Warhammer or Warhammer 40K. Without further ado, here is the movie.
Enjoy.
I just saw this on one of my Forums that I frequent almost on a daily basis. Apparently there is some kind of WH movie coming out that will be all CGI kind of like the Final Fantasy movies and the last Resident Evil movie (Degeneration). Click here to sign up for movie updates.
Meanwhile I will try to find some sort of a trailer on Youtube. Until next time....
First fellow gamers I have those pictures of my newly repainted models to show everyone.
I was happy when I saw that my repaint efforts went well. I thought just painting over the green that was on my guys already that I would need several coats of white paint but it actually went very well. Only one coat required and it was GW branded paint either. So far I did my 3 Crisis Suits, the Piranha and the Devil Fish. They all look really good and hopefully come the weekend I can actually get my camera from my fiancee's house to take pictures to post.
I am rather pleased with my efforts. Pictures to come I promise and hopefully my brothers and I can get to work on a new table and start gaming again. Until next time...
Ok well since I have some free time next week I am going to start painting again. I was going to wait until I got another set of Fire Warriors but funds are a little low right now. So occasionally I will be posting some new pics of my mini's, a before and after will but good. Getting my hours cut isn't a good thing money wise but free time wise it's going to be excellent. Until next week, happy gaming!
